The contest challenged over 200 choreographers and dance instructors across the globe to submit their own original line dance for Montgomery's single, "Mad Cowboy Disease."
Marshall received word that her entry was the winner when Montgomery personally called her on the phone to relay the good news.
"Receiving a personal phone call from John Michael Montgomery was unreal," said an excited Marshall. "I've always been a fan and remember when he started his career, so winning the 'Mad Cowboy Disease' contest is really special to me."
Marshall is a six-time United Country Western Dance Council award winner, including its first 'Female Super Star Champion Award' winner. She is currently retired from the UCWDC, but continues to choreograph dances for country music artists in Nashville.
Marco Club Connection and Stringtown Records partnered to develop the contest, which required participants to submit a video clip of the dance and a detailed description of the steps and counts.
"I have to admit there were some really innovative submissions," says Marco Club Connection's Venue Marketing Specialist Bobbe Morhiser. "It wasn't an easy decision, but Jamie's experience working with some of the musicians in Nashville probably pushed her routine over the top."
As winner of the contest, Marshall will receive a new Takamine Jasmine S33 acoustic guitar autographed by Montgomery. Marshall plans to donate the guitar to the 2009 Ft. Wayne Showdown silent auction. The Showdown is a three-day dance-a-thon in Ft. Wayne, Indiana that benefits a local charity each year. "Mad Cowboy Disease" is the first digital single from Montgomery's upcoming release, Time Flies, due out Oct. 14. His newest single, "If You Ever Went Away," is currently at radio.
