Travis Tritt Record Produced By Randy Jackson

Posted by admin On April - 27 - 2006

The two met recently working on an album for legendary R&B singer
Sam Moore, and hit it off to the extent that Jackson will co-produce
Tritt’s upcoming album on Category 5 Records. Travis explained the
circumstances behind the unique pairing on a recent appearance on CNN’s
Larry King Live.

Tritt’s relationship with Moore is such that he was one of the first
calls when the "Soul Man" decided to record a series of duets on his
upcoming album. "I found out about two days before that Randy Jackson
was actually producing that album," Tritt told King.

Moore and Tritt covered Ray Charles’ "Riding Thumb" in the studio, with
Jackson behind the board. "It was real bluesy and really sort of a
departure from some of the things that I’ve done in the past in the
country music world," Tritt continued.

"And, Randy even said to me, ‘I had no idea that you sang that type of
stuff. If you ever want to do an album along those lines, please call
me.’ And I said, ‘Well, it’s odd that you say that because I’m working
on a new album that’s going to be a little bit different.’" That
project was later slotted as Tritt’s debut album for Category 5 Records
when he signed with fast-rising independent label in January. The
release is expected in mid-2007.

Tritt’s Category 5 debut, co-produced with acclaimed musician, producer and

American Idol judge Randy Jackson is expected in stores in 2007. Until
then, fans can hear the collaboration between Sam Moore and Tritt when
they perform at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 7.

Phil Vassar Builds Momentum For Hits Release Next Week

Posted by admin On April - 27 - 2006

On the eve of the release, Vassar is the subject of a one-hour special
on the Great American Country cable network titled Piano Man In A
Guitar Town.

Shot during a standing-room-only Boston performance at the Historic Lowell

Auditorium in 2005, the program will highlight the energy Vassar brings
to the stage as well as backstage footage of the singer and his band.

The following day, as fans flock to stores to purchase the album,
Vassar will perform his fast-rising new single "Last Day of My Life" on
the season finale of Nashville Star, the USA Network program on which
Vassar has served as a judge for the last two seasons. He will be
joined by the reality show’s contestants for the performance as another
future Nashville star is crowned.

Also upcoming on Vassar’s schedule is a May 16 taping of NBC’s Late
Late Show with Craig Ferguson. This weekend, on April 29th, Vassar will
headline the Country Music Marathon post-race concert.

Attendees of that event are in for a treat as Vassar, known for his
piano-pounding live shows, is coming off a string of sold-out dates
including two in New York City. In its review, The New York Times
hailed Vassar for "one great performance after another," and called
him, "one of country music’s most appealing voices."

Like Vassar’s live shows, Greatest Hits Volume I is much more than your
average country hits compilation. Not only does it include Vassar
smashes like "Just Another Day In Paradise," "In A Real Love" and more,
but newly recorded versions of songs he wrote prior to embarking on his
artist career.

Voiced by Vassar on record for the first time, these are tunes that
propelled the stardom of others, including "My Next Thirty Years" and
"Bye, Bye" recorded by Tim McGraw and Jo Dee Messina respectively.

The Nashville Sounds’ game that evening [against the New
Orleans Zephyrs] is dedicated to Wright’s charitable organization.
Baseball enthusiasts who donate a new or gently used musical instrument
at the gate will be offered two tickets to watch the game and enjoy the
fun-filled evening which will include give-aways (tee-shirts, calendars
and CD’s), a special performance of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”
during the 7th Inning Stretch [by a band of third graders from the
Inglewood Elementary School—a local Nashville RW&R recipient] and
fireworks!

Chely will make a personal appearance—on hand to meet and greet
attendees and offer her autograph in exchange for a nominal donation to
the foundation.

“No child should be denied the opportunity to experience the
wonderful world of music because of a lack of funding. There is proven
documentation that music and music education in our schools enable our
children to excel in their ability to learn basic math and reading.
They score significantly higher on standardized tests while at the same
time developing crucial skills to be successful in self discipline,
teamwork, problem solving skills and life in general,” said Wright.
“This is a perfect opportunity for our community to join together with
a common goal to raise awareness of the importance of literacy and
music education in our schools—for our children.”

The Sounds’ support of Wright’s Reading, Writing, & Rhythm
Foundation is in keeping with its successful Reading Club program, which
was established to tie children’s natural affection for baseball to the
bigger goal of promoting literacy and encouraging a lifelong love for
reading. The Sounds Reading Club supports area schools in their ongoing
endeavor to build strong readers by creating exciting incentives and
rewards for children who continue to read more throughout the year.

“Partnering with a community-oriented organization such as the
Nashville Sounds Baseball Club is a natural,” Chely adds. “Not only
because of their initiative [with their Reading program] but because
this is Music City and our baseball team is called the Sounds!”

Chely established the Reading, Writing, & Rhythm
Foundation in 1999 with the objective of improving the quality of music
education in America’s public schools and raising public awareness
surrounding the importance of music education for our nation’s youth.
To date, the organization has raised nearly $1 Million assisting 50,000
music students in nearly 20 states providing gifts of sheet music,
musical instruments, band uniforms and more.

Rebecca Lynn Howard Plans Summer Road Trip

Posted by admin On April - 27 - 2006

On May 27th, she will open for multi-talented Dwight Yoakam in Little Rock,
AR at the Riverfront Park Amphitheater. Touring will continue for Howard as
a Show Dog, on label-founder Toby Keith’s Hookin’ Up & Hangin’ Out Tour that
will go to more than 60 cities.

Recently in Nashville, Rebecca filmed a four song acoustic set for CMT.com’s
"Studio 330 Sessions," that will be available to view on the CMT website
soon.

Howard’s big break came when she recorded "Softly and Tenderly" for the
GRAMMY Award winning soundtrack of the 1997 Robert Duvall movie, "The
Apostle." She added her powerful vocals to the tribute album "Livin, Lovin,
Losin: Songs of the Louvin Brothers," which won both a GRAMMY and an IBMA
Award. Howard also contributed to the IBMA Award winning album "40," by
bluegrass pioneer Larry Sparks. In 2002, she found herself in the top ten
of the singles charts with her hit "Forgive." Now signed to Show Dog
Nashville, she is working on the final touches for her first album on the
label.
