Carrie Underwood Scores History-Making Debut!

Posted by admin On October - 31 - 2005

“Jesus, Take the Wheel” received so much airplay in its first week of
release that it debuts at #39 this week on both the Billboard and Radio
& Records country singles charts. This marks the first time a
newcomer has debuted inside the Top 40 since the start of BDS audience
monitoring in 1990.

The
chart rankings only begin to tell the 2005 American Idol winner’s
out-of-the-box success story. Carrie’s recording gave her the biggest
first-week numbers of any new artist this year, as her song was added
to the playlists of more than 70 reporting stations-more than double
that of any other song this week and a figure so high that only five
mega-stars (Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Gretchen Wilson
and Toby Keith) have posted better first-week numbers this year.

The newcomer couldn’t be more thrilled by her reception at country
radio. “Everybody keeps throwing numbers at me,” she observes. “I don’t
know what they mean, but everybody seems pleased, so I am, too!”
Throughout the Idol competition that propelled Carrie into the
spotlight this spring, she made it clear to producers and viewers that
she’s a country music fan and singer. “Every chance I got I wanted to
do country music because everybody kept telling us to be ourselves…and
that’s the music I love.”

Carrie’s welcome from country radio extends far and wide. In the coming
weeks, she’ll be showcased in interviews on hundreds of stations via
many syndicated radio shows, an album premiere special (hosted by
Carrie) and specially created satellite radio programming…proof that
radio programmers at every level are jumping at the chance to introduce
Carrie and her music to their listeners.

Carrie’s debut album, Some Hearts-featuring “Jesus, Take the Wheel” (19 Recording/Arista) -arrives in stores November 15, 2005.

Walk The Line Ò Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Posted by admin On October - 31 - 2005

. The soundtrack is produced by
Grammy® Award winner T Bone Burnett, who also composed the film’s
score. Academy Award® and Golden Globe® nominee Joaquin Phoenix stars
(and sings) as Johnny Cash and Golden Globe nominee Reese Witherspoon
stars (and sings) as June Carter Cash in WALK THE LINE, the true story
of an honest sound that became a revolution, a man who became an icon,
and a love that saved him from destruction.

For T Bone Burnett, WALK THE LINE represented a tremendous opportunity
and a tremendous responsibility. “Johnny Cash was a mythical figure in
the 1950’s, by the time he was twenty five. It was his voice, his name,
his point of view. Love God Raise Hell. Destructive. Dangerous. Darker
than the Man in Black. Joaquin seemed like he was born to play this
role, and the very first time we met about it, I saw him evoke John
Cash in a profound way. He evoked him without imitating him. Joaquin is
an artist. So is Reese.”

The
soundtrack boasts trademark Cash gems including “I Walk The Line,”
“Ring of Fire,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” and “Cry Cry Cry” performed by
Phoenix and Witherspoon. Additionally, the soundtrack features
performances by notable musicians including country/rock artist Shooter
Jennings, son of legend Waylon Jennings, who portrays his father in the
film; alternative rock and folk artist Johnathan Rice who plays Roy
Orbison; and singer/songwriter Tyler Hilton who plays Elvis Presley.

The complete track listing for Walk The Line – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is:

1. Get Rhythm – Joaquin Phoenix

2. I Walk The Line – Joaquin Phoenix

3. Wildwood Flower – Reese Witherspoon

4. Lewis Boogie Blues – Waylon Payne

5. Ring Of Fire – Joaquin Phoenix

6. You’re My Baby – Johnathan Rice

7. Cry Cry Cry – Joaquin Phoenix

8. Folsom Prison Blues – Joaquin Phoenix

9. That’s All Right -Tyler Hilton

10. Juke Box Blues – Reese Witherspoon

11. It Ain’t Me Babe – Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon

12. Home of the Blues – Joaquin Phoenix

13. Milk Cow Blues – Tyler Hilton

14. I’m A Long Way From Home – Shooter Jennings

15. Cocaine Blues – Joaquin Phoenix

16. Jackson — Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon

Producer T Bone Burnett won a BAFTA Award for Best Achievement in Film
Music (shared with Gabriel Yared) for “Cold Mountain.” He received an
Oscar®-nomination (shared with Elvis Costello) for the film’s original
song, “Scarlet Tide.” In addition, he won four Grammys for his work on
“O Brother, Where Art Thou?”, also receiving a BAFTA Award-nomination
for Best Achievement in Film Music (shared with Carter Burwell).

Developed for seven years with the cooperation of Johnny Cash and June
Carter Cash, Writer/Director James Mangold focuses WALK THE LINE on the
period in the mid-fifties when rock-and-roll exploded from a tiny
studio in Memphis, Tennessee. The film

follows Cash’s meteoric rise to fame, culminating with his emergence as
the “Man in Black” at his historic concert at Folsom Prison in 1968.
Mangold co-wrote the screenplay with Gill Dennis.

The WALK THE LINE cast also includes Robert Patrick as Cash’s volatile
father, Ray; Ginnifer Goodwin as Johnny’s first wife, Vivian; Dan John
Miller, who plays guitarist Luther Perkins; Larry Bagby as bassist
Marshall Grant; Dallas Roberts as legendary Sun Records founder Sam
Phillips; Dan Beene and Sandra Lafferty as the legendary Ezra and
Maybelle Carter; and Hailey Anne Nelson as the young Rosanne Cash.

The Possum himself is dubious about the honor: "I never heard of
counting each disc towards Gold but they tell me this is how all the
newer artists seem to have sales of 20 or 30 million in what I consider
relatively short careers. This new math could change the course of my
own career!" Jones might also be reluctant to claim that Gold as he
promised new cars for everyone at his label if the package achieved
that distinction!

Jones
has just released the first project in his 51st year as a recording
artist with HITS I MISSED…AND ONE I DIDN’T on Bandit Records. Jones,
now 74, is one of the most acclaimed artists in music history and
continues to "awe" his listeners:

GEORGE JONES – HITS I MISSED – REVIEWS

This is thoroughly and completely Jones’ album. He closes the set by
revisiting his own landmark, "He Stopped Loving her Today" with the
kind of certain authority that can come only after singing a song for
25 years – a fitting grace note to end possibly the finest album of
Jones’ long career. ~Joel Selvin – San Francisco Chronicle –9/18/05

It’s an album of highlights, but it would be hard to beat Jones’
poignant reading of Willie Nelson’s great "Funny How Time Slips Away"
and his beautiful duet with Dolly Parton on "The Blues Man," the best
thing Hank Williams Jr. ever did." ~PEOPLE Magazine (Critic’s Choice)
**** – 10/31/05

Jones’ voice can hijack golden oldies such as Willie Nelson’s "Funny
How Time Slips Away," Mel Tillis’ "Detroit City" or Merle Haggard’s
"Today I Started Loving You Again" and leave the original versions in
the dust. ~The Columbus Dispatch- 9/15/05

Jones delivers breathtaking versions of the Willie Nelson-penned "Funny
How Time Slips Away," Hank Williams Jr.’s "The Blues Man" (a duet with
Dolly Parton) and Alan Jackson’s "Here In The Real World."…It would be
a crying shame for any country fan to miss this album. ~Denver Post –

special performance is open only to military personnel and their
families. For the sixth consecutive year, the band is nominated for the
Country Music Association’s Vocal Group of the Year. This year’s award
will be handed out during the awards ceremony Nov. 15 on CBS. Home of

Originally from Texas, members of Lonestar include lead vocalist Richie
McDonald, keyboardist Dean Sams, drummer Keech Rainwater and guitarist
Michael Britt. The band recently released their eighth studio album
titled "Coming Home." Their latest single, "You’re Like Comin’ Home,"

serves as an unofficial anthem to military families separated by
